Chocolate remains a sought after sweet but cocoa is becoming an increasingly scarce resource. The main producers of chocolate want to secure their interests by obtaining a steady supply of cocoa. The only solution to this is to train the farmers better in order to increase their yield and to make sure they are paid a better price. The long production and supply chain affects and employs many people – from the cocoa bean farmers and local buyers in Ivory Coast, through the port of Amsterdam and Dutch chocolate factories all the way to supermarkets and luxury resellers. ‘For the love of chocolate’ project seeks to highlight the need for a sustainable cocoa production.
