Kiva Microfunds, is a non-profit organization founded in San Francisco in October 2005 by a team with experience in microfinance and technology. This organization allows people to lend money via the internet to small business in developing countries. Kiva, which means “agreement” or “unity” in Swahili, got its start in Uganda, where it forged partnerships with local microfinance institutes.

These photographs were made by Francesco Zizola in December 2007, together with Premal Sahaa, who attended Zizola during the journey in order to visit the beneficiaries of the Kiva organization in some camps in Uganda.
