In March 2013 the NOOR-Nikon Masterclass in Documentary Photography took place in Tunis, Tunisia. Fourteen young professional photographers hailing from Algeria, Libya, Mali, Morocco, Niger and Tunisia shared experiences and their work with NOOR photographers Pep Bonet, Stanley Greene, Yuri Kozyrev and NOOR’s managing director Evelien Kunst.
During five intensive days they collectively reviewed all their portfolios and edited a short assignment that each of the participating photographers prepared on the theme FOOD.
Furthermore, practical experiences were shared and in-depth discussions were held about inspiration and ethical issues related to the profession.
“With the advice of trainers I learned a lot of things I did not know about before, like how to prepare a topic and develop a story, how to edit my work and tips to succeed in photojournalism. This workshop was beneficial for me because it deepened my knowledge and I gained first hand professional experience,” says participant Hassan Ouazzani.
Each of the participating photographers has added a single image to this slideshow from his or her portfolio or FOOD assignment.
The annual NOOR-Nikon Masterclass in Documentary Photography is made possible with the generous support of Nikon Europe. The masterclass in Tunis was organized in collaboration with Shutter Party.
