Jon Lowenstein recently released A Violent Thread, a film that explores the psychological and physical impact of the ongoing social violence on multiple generations of residents who reside on Chicago’s South Side

Through the combination of natural sound, oral histories and moving images he created a short film which was released on The New Yorker and featured on the TED Blog.

The film is part of a decade-long documentary exploration of one of the most complex and off-represented parts of the United States’ most American city, Chicago.
