visual storytelling in an open society

A six-month training opportunity for documentary photographers and photojournalists in Egypt.

In collaboration with Al-liquindoi Workshops and Cairo-based Contemporary Image Collective, NOOR continues its educational efforts in the Arab world. “Visual Storytelling in an Open Society” is a training opportunity for local photographers in Egypt.

The program provides fully funded training and support to fifteen photographers who are interested in visually documenting issues of importance in Egypt and the region.

After the first kick-off workshop in March, currently followed by a six-month online mentorship and presentations in the Egyptian capital, the second workshop will take place from 15 to 20 October. The mentors – Sheryl A. Mendez, Rula Halawani and Nina Berman will work with each person individually to edit their final stories. Photo-editors with the national press will be invited to the workshop to review the final stories.
