nikon-noor academy in berlin

Between 7 and 10 March 2017, the Nikon-NOOR Workshop took place at C/O Berlin in Germany. This workshop is part of the Nikon-NOOR Academy 2017, also organized in Amsterdam, Paris & Manchester. Fifteen young photographers and photojournalists from Germany came together for an inspiring four days of learning and sharing with NOOR photographers Yuri KozyrevBénédicte Kurzen & Kadir van Lohuizen and NOOR team represented by Asmara Pelupessy and Anastasia Muratova.

During the four intensive days, the group reviewed and shared their portfolios, listened to presentations by the photographers, held in-depth discussions on practical and creative issues, and edited their visual stories. Below you will find a showcase of the participants’ work.

I was astonished by the openness of other participants and the tutors; I would love to participate once in a while in such masterclasses cause it gives a lot of motivation and knowledge from the "real world".

- Ksenia Les

All three photographers were very friendly and motivating and willing to make the best out of our edits. They shared a lot of their experience (publications, pitching, editing) and answered every question. Also getting an insight in the NOOR agency and how it is organised was very interesting.

- Arne Piepke

It was an intense time, were I learned a lot about the workflow of a photojournalist (from setting up a story until distribution), got new insight in my own work and made new friends alongside the fellow participants.

- Emile Ducke

The workshop gave us the great possibility to build up a network with the other participants. I think it will be really useful in the future to have them to talk about ongoing projects and share experience! All the advices about pitching and funding our project will be helpful in future.

- Ingmar Bjorn Nolting

Actually, the workshop offers many topics which I missed at university. Far away from a

theoretical teaching, it is a perfect platform for an exchange of knowledge and experience, close to the everyday professional life of documentary photographers.
