In recognition of the urgency of the moment and the perils we all face by the warming planet, NOOR stands with journalists, scientists, water protectors, climate activists, and concerned people everywhere in support of worldwide actionsto stop fossil fuel extraction and transition to a renewable and sustainable future. We resist the environmental fascists and militarists who use nationalism, racism and xenophobia to divide and conquer. We condemn the cynicism and obscene greed of so called climate deniers. They are nothing but gangster scammers who aim to subvert scientific fact so they can continue enriching themselves and their fellow elites. We hold them accountable and the irresponsible corporations who knowingly have brought us to this tipping point.

Ten years ago, NOOR photographers produced the ground-breaking Consequencesproject which looked at the effects of climate change worldwide. At that time, the CO2 levels were 385ppm. They are now at 415ppm, a completely unsupportable trajectory. Every day we see the catastrophic effects from Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas, to the melting Artic, to the forest fires and melting permafrost, to crop failure and drought. And what do the leaders who brought us to this place offer? More weapons, more mining, more extraction, more destruction of indigenous communities. We say enough.

In 2010, NOORcontinued its climate change project with Solutions by NOOR, a project representing the work of eight internationally acclaimed photographers. An encompassing independent visual investigation into what is and can be done to slow down or reverse climate changes. Human stories about alternative power sources, renewable energies, and attempts to alleviate, adjust or cope with the rise of global temperatures. The biggest challenge our world has ever faced.

September is the month of international climate strikes where people world over will take to the streets. Heads of state will meet in NYC for the United Nations summit. Let’s make our voices heard. To help in this effort, NOOR turns its social media exclusively to climate coverage, drawing from our archive and new work from the Amazon to the Artic. We encourage our friends in the photographic and creative communities to do the same, along with media publications around the world. Share our pictures, make your voices heard, and demand that our politicians #DoSomething.
