noor welcomes clement saccomani as new managing director

 

NOOR members and staff welcome Clément Saccomani as NOOR’s new Managing Director.

 

Clément Saccomani (France, 1981) comes to NOOR with 15 years of international experience in the photography industry. Previously, Clément worked as Editorial Director for Magnum Photos, based in Paris.

 

NOOR members are pleased to announce the appointment of Clément to manage the photographer-owned agency. His experience, commitment and vision will play a pivotal role in maintaining and expanding NOOR’s mission to create and distribute compelling visual documentary works that raise awareness and enhance an understanding of the world.

 

On joining NOOR, Clément stated, “I am very excited to help testify and share the human, political, social, and environmental upheavals of today’s world. We need witnesses and the perspectives of concerned photographers to better understand the challenges and issues we face globally.”

 

Founding NOOR member Kadir van Lohuizen shared, “As we enter our eighth year as an agency, we look forward to the international experience and network Clément will bring to NOOR, elevating NOOR to a new level of success.”


BIOGRAPHY CLEMENT SACCOMANI:

Clément Saccomani (France, 1981) comes to NOOR with 15 years of international experience in the photography industry. He began working in the field as a press photographer for several years covering news, conflict and violence against women, represented by Gamma Agency. In 2009, Clément joined the staff of Magnum Photos. In 2011, he was promoted to Editorial Director, developing strong, innovative strategies for visual storytelling projects for corporate clients, NGOs and international organizations. Clément’s expertise embraces all aspects of creative management, from seeking out business opportunities, to overseeing the communication and dissemination of creative projects.

AMSTERDAM MASTERCLASS IN DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY 2015

NOOR and Nikon invite photographers to submit their portfolios for selection for the 2015 NOOR-Nikon Masterclass in Documentary Photography taking place in Amsterdam, The Netherlands 16 through 20 November 2015. The masterclass is open to young and aspiring documentary photographers and photojournalists from: The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, United Kingdom and Ireland.

THE MASTERCLASS

 

During the five-day masterclass 15 participants, together with three NOOR member photographers will share experiences, work on portfolios, improve editing skills and learn how to pick up and develop stories. Each day consists of intensive communication with the photographers on subjects ranging from technical aspects of shooting to the nuances of the international photo market. It is a unique opportunity to learn impactful visual storytelling, develop a personal vision, and gain new knowledge and contacts in an intimate and interactive environment.

 

The masterclass is free of charge and includes lunch and drinks. Please note that travel, accommodation and additional meals are not covered and should be arranged by individual participants.

 

HOW TO APPLY

 

Requirements:

 

• Basic experience (two to three years) in documentary photography or photojournalism in professional or educational setting

• English fluency (the workshop will be conducted in English)

• Good technical understanding of your camera equipment

 

To apply send a PDF* file not exceeding 6 MB including:

 

• A CV that includes your contact information and describes your involvement and experience in photography, showing proof of photographic training or practical experience (maximum 2 pages)

• Motivation letter in English that includes a written text explaining your work and projects (maximum 1 page)

• A portfolio of 1 to 3 photo stories (minimum 8 images per story), with maximum of 30 total images in entire portfolio. Please include captions with each image and a short introduction (100 words maximum) for each picture story.

kadir van lohuizen in foam magazine: a never ending story...

 

 

In January 2015, Kadir van Lohuizen travelled to the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo where he visited the Tuwakinge Watoto Namatokeo Ya Vita (Lets protect the children from the consequences of war) project. This project was initiated in South-Kivu by War Child and ECHO (the humanitarian division of the European Commission) to support children and young people affected by war in this region. In the accompanying essay, Kadir provides insight into his experience working with NGOs.
