NOOR confronts the dominant narrative to create global impact using visual storytelling with integrity and passion.
Andrea Bruce, through her work, commitment and courage, helps make our world a better place. She was awarded the 2018 Anja Niedringhaus Courage in Photojournalism Award for her lenghty career and her contribution in shedding a light on the untold stories of our world.
This award was also an opportunity to recognize the remarkable work of Rebecca Conway, participant of our last NOOR-NIKON Masterclass in Bayeux. Find all of her work and stories here.
This NOOR Education Masterclass was made possible thanks to Nikon France and the NOOR Foundation.
Yuri Kozyrev and Kadir van Lohuizen received the prestigious Carmignac Photojournalism Award and will begin in the coming weeks an unprecedented photographic and visual adventure. Yuri and Kadir will be the pioneers of a unique narrative.
Their double polar expedition project, "Arctic: New Frontier", will focus on the consequences of the melting of the sea ice for the planet, and the medium-term prospect of its total disappearance.
Yuri Kozyrev will travel towards the East and Kadir van Lohuizen will head West. Each of them will travel halfway across the Arctic Circle to meet in September in the Bering Strait.
From Russia to Norway, Greenland, Canada and Alaska, the two laureates will, in their respective areas of research, explore key issues affecting the Arctic - the opening of new trade routes, the militarisation of borders, the search for mineral resources, polar tourism, etc. – and their impact on our daily lives.
We're proud to share that Kadir van Lohuizen was awarded the First Prize in the Environment Category for World Press Photo Contest with his series "Wasteland"
NOOR's Managing Director Clement Saccomani stated: "We had great joy to see Kadir receive the World Press Photo. This award is for NOOR, a huge honor because given for the first time, it rewards the strong and necessary commitment of Kadir and NOOR to register in the honest testimony of our own world and environment."
This award was made possible thanks to our historical partner Nikon. NOOR and .the NOOR Foundation would like to thank our partner Nikon and Nikon Europe, because by uniting our strengths and our talents, we inform the world.
This project was graciously supported by the Nikon Europe Ambassador program.

NOOR and the NOOR Foundation are very proud to announce that Yuri Kozyrev and Kadir van Lohuizen are the laureates of the 9th Edition of the Carmignac Photojournalism Award, devoted this year to the Arctic.
Dedicated to the Arctic and chaired by climatologist Jean Jouzel, winner of the 2012 Vetlesen Award and co-winner of the 2007 Nobel Peace Award as Director of the IPCC, and under the patronage of Minister Ségolène Royal, French Ambassador for the Arctic and Antarctic Poles, the 9th edition of the Carmignac Photojournalism Award was awarded to Yuri Kozyrev and Kadir van Lohuizen.
Their double polar expedition project, "Arctic: New Frontier", will focus on the consequences of the melting of the sea ice for the planet, and the medium-term prospect of its total disappearance.

"The melting of the polar sea ice is in the process of changing the map of the world for ever. In visiting all the affected regions and countries in one expedition and by showing how the different players — starting with Russia and the U.S. — are working on conquering the North Pole, we will reveal how the impact of climate change in the Arctic is of global significance for the rest of the world." - Yuri Kozyrev & Kadir van Lohuizen

Robin Hammond has shot this month's front cover of National Geographic tackling the issue of Race.
“I had the privilege of shooting the cover of this month’s special issue on Race. 11 year old twins Millie (right) and Marcia (left) are from Birmingham, United Kingdom. Their mother calls them her “rainbow twins.” “They’re my miracles” she says. Race is a made-up label used to define and separate us. In its special race issue, National Geographic reports on the origins of scientific racism and how it has defined society as we know it. #IDefineMe. I’ll be sharing more images from the cover shoot and the feature I shot on genetics and race on my instagram channel" - Robin Hammond.
The Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma will host photographers Nina Berman and Susan Meiselas for a conversation about their newly-released books, "An Autobiography of Miss Wish" and "A Room of Their Own."
