The 2021 Nikon-NOOR masterclasses are finished. Participants from around the world worked together with NOOR authors Andrea Bruce, Pep Bonet, Heba Khamis, Jon LowensteinSanne De Wilde, Kadir van Lohuizen, Olga Kravets and Tanya Habjouqa to share experiences, work on portfolios, improve editing skills, and learn how to create visual stories.

The first round of the Nikon-NOOR Academy mastercalsses have started on the 18th of February!

Andrea Bruce, Pep Bonet and Heba Khamis will be teaching the first 15 participants of the Nikon-NOOR masterclasses until the 26th of February.

We are delighted to announce the participants selected for the 2021 Nikon-NOOR Academy Masterclasses, which will take place in February and March.

The tutors of this year’s academy are Andrea Bruce, Heba Khamis, Pep Bonet, Sanne De Wilde, Jon Lowenstein, Francesco Zizola, Olga Kravets, Yuri Kozyrev and Kadir van Lohuizen.

We would sincerely like to thank all the people who sent forward their applications and congratulate the photographers who will participate in the masterclasses.

On his new platform, The Collective, Sebastian Liste will get honest and transparent about how you can bring clarity to your projects, grow your creative practice, and build a sustainable career as a visual storyteller. Every week, you will receive new content such:

  • Live Q&As with Sebastian Liste

Inside The Collective, you will get into inspirational learning, practical advice, and valuable insights to help you elevate your skills, mindset & projects.

All sessions will be recorded and available on the platform so you can work and learn at your own pace. You can stay for as long as you like, no strings attached.

To keep the experience intimate and to build a strong community, The Collective will be open to join several times a year. The first door will close Sunday, January 24th at 11:59pm CET.

Free Online Workshop with Sebastian Liste & Olga Kravets Working in Challenging Environments

We're pleased to announce our next online workshop with NOOR authors Olga Kravets and Sebastian Liste on Friday, December 18th, 2020, at 6:30 pm CET.

This workshop will discuss how to produce meaningful work under pressure, whether that's during challenging times or conflict zones. Olga and Sebastian will also talk about their experiences documenting social justice in conflict territories.

This workshop will discuss how to boost one's creativity in pandemic times, and beyond! Heba and Sebastian will talk about how they've engaged with their creative practice in these isolated times — teaching themselves to transform self-doubt into new opportunities.

Tanya Habjouqa | Applications open for the Youth Photography Workshop in Doha

Tanya Habjouqa will be teaching Doha Film Institute's inaugural Youth Photography Workshop. Each student will create a narrative story about something in their personal lives, home, school, friends, or the world around them.

Nikon-NOOR Academy | Announcing the Participants for the 2019 Masterclass in Spain

We are delighted to announce the participants selected for the 2019 Nikon-NOOR Academy Spain, which will take place in Barcelona from November the 11th until the 14th, 2019

Kadir van Lohuizen | Applications Open for the Photography Workshop in Tanzania

NOOR partnered-up with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Tanzania to organise a free 2-day Photography Workshop in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from October the 24th until October the 25th.

About the Tutor

Kadir van Lohuizen (NL) has covered conflicts in Africa and elsewhere, but is probably best known for his long-term projects on the seven rivers of the world, the rising of sea levels, the diamond industry and migration in the Americas. His most recent project ‘Arctic: New Frontier’ done together with Yuri Kozyrev for the Fondation Carmignac was exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery in London. 


Content 

In this workshop participants will discuss, share & learn about the development of a long-term photographic project. NOOR photographer Kadir van Lohuizen is a master of visual narrative and storytelling, allowing him to engage participants into crafting their stories. Together with the participants, he will work on the (re)conceptualizing, sequencing, and narrowing down the series and projects.
